Pre-participation exams (PPEs), or sports physicals, are required by many school districts, sport organizations, and summer camps.  These are used to measure a child’s health, growth, and fitness for participation as well as to gauge the risk of possible future injury. PPEs are also used to determine whether a child has any preexisting medical conditions that require attention.

AFC Urgent Care - Florham Park offers camp and sports physicals at our walk-in clinic. Our experienced physicians are ready to review health history and immunizations, perform a thorough exam, and complete and sign all necessary paperwork for your child to be cleared to participate.  All our physicians are certified to perform Student-Athlete Cardiac assessment for athletic participation as required by New Jersey regulations.

We are open seven days a week, including extended hours on weekday evenings.  You don’t need a referral or an appointment for a sports physical.

At AFC Urgent Care - Florham Park, we accept most major insurances for medical treatment, but pre-participation exams are not considered a covered medical expense by insurers. We charge a nominal fee for typical camp and sports physicals, which would be payable at the time of visit.  Please call us at 973-377-9366 if you have any questions.
